Testimonials

"I've competed in sport all my life and have never had a more inspiring and effective coach than Matt. In two years, he has transformed me from an occasional jogger into a 3 hr 22 min marathoner. Regardless of how fit, how busy or how old you are, Matt can help you achieve your goals in a friendly and supportive environment. I cannot recommend him highly enough".

'From our very first meeting with Matt to now (training for marathon no. 6) our group of 4 jogger friends knew we had found the right person to inspire and lead us with his knowledge of all things running - training, programming, strength, speed, pacing, endurance, injuries, hydration and of course, nutrition.  There are two things that set Matt apart as a running coach, however, and they do not come from his vast knowledge or wealth of experience.  First is his perfect balance of approach in being both tough and caring, which ensures there is neither the ability nor desire to slack off in training.  Our goals become his goals and vice-versa so that there is a mutual desire to succeed.  The second, and perhaps more compelling, is Matt,s enthusiam.  Despite the pain and regardless of the weather conditions, every session with Matt involves laughter and a good measure of comraderie and support between all participants.  Every running event (be it local, interstate or overseas), where family and friends sometimes join us, is inevitably a lot of fun and provides lasting memories.  The faster running times speak for themselves.  Feeling and looking fit and healthy is just an added bonus (but worth mentioning!)

"Matt's training has made me a better and more confident runner. His careful planning means I get more benefit from his sessions than any others I have tried. The feeling of becoming a stronger runner is enormously satisfying and keeps me coming back for more coaching every week. Matt came highly recommended by a friend, and I now find myself recommending him to everyone else I know"

Matt,

Thank you for arranging the Athens marathon/trip/training.  It was one of the highlights of my life and certainly my greatest sporting achievement to date.

Those 5 days in Greece were awesome.  We had a great road trip - not sure I have ever laughed as much in my life and we had some very funny experiences on the way.  We alI really enjoyed the training this time and was the fittest and strongest I have ever been in my life - again all thanks to you.

I doubt that anything will ever better this trip and this particular marathon (which is THE marathon) and it will never be forgotten.  I am glad that as a group we had the opportunity of doing this together.  Totally amazing and huge fun.

Kind regards

PJD

"I've trained with Matt for two marathons over the past twelve months with a 100% PB success rate - personal best times in the Sydney Marathon 2011 and the Barossa Marathon 2012 as well as the half marathon races which were part of the training program. In less than a year Matt's trainings led me to carve nearly forty minutes off my time in Athens 2010.

The strength that differentiates Matt from other coaches is that he understands our various personalities and what drives us, then tailors his feedback and encouragement accordingly. He knows how and when to push us to bring out our best performances in training and races. I've been coached in many sports and realise that this is a rare skill. Backed up by science and Matt's continuous research and learning, it's a winning combination.

If you're thinking of training for a marathon, I'd absolutely recommend Matt's training group. It's fantastic to join a group, particularly for those 30 kilometre+ training runs. The beauty of Matt's training is that he caters for a range of speeds and strengths so there's no need to feel intimidated; the team is supportive and there're lots of laughs, too.

 Thanks Matt!"
